TML’s transformative “Love It!” Studio Podcast 

The perfect fit for your Leadership Miami experience!

The Love It! Studio Podcast is a youth-driven initiative designed to Empower underserved youth in Overtown by providing them with the skills, mentorship, and platform to express themselves through digital media. More than just a creative outlet, this project serves as a springboard for career development by equipping students with real-world experience in broadcasting, storytelling, and entrepreneurship.

For our youth, families, and community members in Overtown they are often not heard, not seen, or not understood. And we want to change that- starting with our Youth and the Love It Studio Podcast! 

Every person who serves here at TML believes that if we can do something, we should do something to:✅ Inspire✅ Educate AND ✅ Empower…our youth and their families. And this project is a catalyst in doing so. 

With two main campuses, serving nearly 400 students each week in Overtown and West Homestead, this Project will focus on supporting our youth program in Overtown (35-40 youth from grades 6-12).

Overtown’s youth have powerful stories to tell, but they often lack the platform, skills, and resources to share them. ‘Love It!’ Studio is designed to change that. This project is about more than just a podcast—it’s about equipping young people with the tools to express themselves, build confidence, and gain real-world skills that open doors to future careers.

With this project we want to provide: 

• Real Stories, Diverse Voices: Youth-led content that brings fresh perspectives from underserved communities.
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Hands-on experience in branding, media production, and digital marketing.
• Career-Ready Skills: Training in broadcasting, storytelling, sales, and leadership that can translate into future careers.

Our Youth Team | Instruction

Time in the studio will become a component of the weekly curriculum and sustained by our talented youth programming team, as well as, a sourced professional service partner to help train our team and provide guidance and mentorship.

Location

The home base for the Studio will be housed and created at the Historic Dorsey Memorial Library where we will provide our youth programming throughout the year thanks to an agreement with the Florida Film House.

FFH is a loving community partner of TML’s.  In fact, this project was inspired by their 1st Take Youth Program that has been partnering with TML since this past summer and developing our youth’s interest in this area.

The Podcast will become a component of the weekly curriculum and sustained by our talented youth programming team.  1st Take will help train our team and provide guidance and mentorship.

Congruent to this year -round programming opportunity, our youth team has collaborated with Catalyst Miami to do an 8 week evening Intergenerational Storytelling Pilot Project called “Tales from the Town: Real Stories from Overtown”. Our team’s involvement is driven from the momentum and enthusiasm our youth have to develop themselves in this area, as well as, the personal growth we have seen come from experiences like this.

When chosen The Timeline to complete this project will most likely be: 

• In February – our Leadership Miami team will start by working directly with students to name the studio and podcast and design branding for the lobby signage at the Historic Dorsey Library. 1st Take will meet with students to brainstorm podcast themes, names, and vision.  And, the LM team will start planning their fundraiser.
• In March – A fundraiser will occur to secure funds for equipment purchase.
• In April – TML students and Youth Team will have a portable podcast activation at the Move with Love 5k FUN RUN on April 19th-which you are cordially invited to. Logistics will also be finalized for the podcast equipment space and installing the signage at Dorsey.
• Then finally, in May – A ribbon-cutting event will be held at Dorsey Library.  As well as the premiere of our very first podcast episode recording and showing.

“Love It!” Studio Comes to Life!

With various items needed to bring the Studio to life, like lighting, microphones, and cameras, we look forward to collaborating with our LM team and leverage our mutual relationships to find media grants and/ or  funders to invest in this innovative and empowering learning experience.

The budget for this project should fall between: $16,500-$25,000.

We have availability to work with our LM team to coordinate time for site visits, in fact we already are ready to schedule our first meeting on almost any given Tuesday afternoon to meet with our FFH Community Partner, Marco Mall!

Marco, The Youth Team and TML Students all are looking forward to working with the LM team.  We believe this opportunity will give our TML youth an edge and help us meet our students in an entrepreneurial space for us to fuel our mission sharing the love of Christ by offering hope, opportunities, and resources to our communities.

In Overtown, where many of our families live below the federal poverty line, The ‘Love It!’ Studio is more than just a podcast—it’s a launchpad for our students’ future—it’s a permanent program that provides skills, career pathways, and amplifies their voices.

The impact of the “Love It!” Studio is transformative, offering our 35-40 youth from grades 6-12 the tools to showcase their multiple talents and develop skills needed for financial stability and career success, ultimately influencing their trajectory of life.

Just to remind you completion of this project will activate for our youth:

• A Named & branded Studio and Podcast.
• The first student-led podcast episode
• Scheduled community leader interviews.
• An audience to help build upon for future growth and career development.
• And just to let you know this project will extend its impact beyond this May:
• By Fall 2025 The program will be fully integrated into the curriculum at Overtown and in West Homestead.
• There will be career connections in media, business, and storytelling offering a pipeline of opportunity for future students.
