Founding Partners

Touching Miami with Love is blessed to have been created in partnership.  The vision for an organization to meet the needs of those in the downtown corridor and nearby Overtown neighborhood was first seen by active members at the former Central Baptist Church in downtown Miami.  These passion people shared their vision with those in the formational stages of a new organization, The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF).

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship believed in this vision and funded the first staff of Touching Miami with Love, founding directors Butch and Nell Green.  Since those early days in the mid-90s, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has provided financial support for every Executive Director of Touching Miami with Love.

The state branch of The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF-FL) was actually the first to formalize and Touching Miami with Love was their first joint project as an emerging organization. Pat and Carolyn Anderson led a team of CBF FL individuals in A Covenant to Serve, as Pat served as the first CBF Florida state coordinator calling for support of Touching Miami with Love to secure the purchase of our building and fund programming. CBF FL not only purchased our first building in downtown, but provided the seed funds to get hands-on ministry in Miami started.  They also funded the purchased of land in  Homestead and for years led the construction of our center serving the West Homestead community.  Today the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Florida provides both our center’s site to Touching Miami with Love rent free and also provides for some of the cost of maintenance and utilities for our centers.
